Introduction

The program is offered by the Faculty of Fisheries and Food Science, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu starting 2014/2015 session. It is one of the prevalent programs of choice by students. Crop Science program focuses on the study of the plant to increase its productivity by giving special emphasis in understanding the structure, anatomy and classification of crop plants, genetic and plant breeding, plant physiology, cropping systems, crop production technology, soil science, agricultural mechanization, precision farming technology, control of pest, disease and weed in agriculture and seed technology. The main objective of this program is to generate and disseminate knowledge for agricultural development in various fields of crop science.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements for Diploma Holders/ Equivalent
University’s General Requirement
Pass SPM or its equivalent with credits in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia or credits Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia, July Paper;
and
Possess a Diploma or other qualifications as recognised by the Malaysian Government and University’s Senate;
or
Pass STPM in 2012 or before with at least:
Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in General Studies
and
Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in two (2) other subjects
or
Pass Matriculation in 2012 or before with at least CGPA 2.00;
and
Pass MUET with a minimum score of Band 1.
Program’s Special Requirement
Pass STPM/Matriculation in 2012 or before with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in Biology.

Minimum qualifications Matriculation / Foundation

Pass SPM or its equivalent with credits in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia, July Paper;
Pass the Ministry of Education Matriculation/UM Science Foundation/ UiTM Science Foundation with at least a CGPA 2.00.;
and
Pass MUET with a minimum score of Band 1.
Program’s Special Requirement
Pass in STPM/Matriculation in 2012 or before with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in Biology.

Minimum Qualifications for STPM

University’s General Requirement
Pass in SPM or its equivalent with credits in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia or credits Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia, July Paper;
and
Pass in STPM in 2012 or before with at least:
Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in General Studies
and
Program’s Special Requirement
Pass STPM/Matriculation in 2012 or before with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in Biology.
Duration of Study, Fees and Total Credits
Duration: 4 years
Total credit hours: 140
Fees (per semester):
Local student: RM 980.00
International student: RM2,300.00
** All the above cost fees exclude accommodation and non-recurrent fees.
Non Recurrent Fees: One-time payment for studying the whole course of study at UMT. Student only needs to pay once for this Non Recurrent Fee total RM 450.00 during the whole study at UMT. These fees MUST be paid before or during registration day. These fees includes registration (RM100.00), orientation (RM200.00) and extra-curricular activities (RM 150.00).
