Assalammualaikum dan Salam Sejahtera
On 28 April 2025, FPSM once again received visitors. This time we were visited by students and teaching staff from far south of the country, namely from SMK Taman Universiti 2, Skudai Johor. This group was led by Cikgu Sayful Nurasyraf bin Muhammad and accompanied by several other teachers.
• For the participants of this visit, all activities were coordinated by Dr Iffah Hazirah as the Promotion Coordinator. Among the activities arranged were:
1. Briefing on the study programs offered at FPSM presented by Dr. Suhaizan binti Lob, Head of the Bachelor of Agrotechnology (Crop Science) Program.
2. Sharing the experiences of 2nd year SMSA (Crop Science) students, namely sister Jivenitha A/P Ganesan and brother Muhammad Najmi Bin Hasan.
3. Visits to laboratories, including:
Fisheries and Catching Technology Laboratory, students were given a brief briefing by Mr. Muhaimin
Food Product Processing and Production Laboratory, students saw practical activities carried out by year 3 students of SMSM (Food Services and Nutrition)
Food Chemistry Laboratory, students saw practical activities carried out by students of SMSM (Food Technology) – Determination of fibre in food
Basic Food Preparation Laboratory, students were given a brief briefing by Ms. Nor Azni
Crop Science Laboratory. In this laboratory, students were provided with several interesting activities namely:
i. Kokederma cultivation techniques
ii. Terrarium cultivation techniques
iii. Determination of brix in fruit using a refractometer
iv. Identifying fruit crispness using a penetrometer
v. Herbarium collection
vi. Insect collection (entremology)
vii. Demonstration of tissue culture techniques
FPSM would like to express its gratitude for this visit. Hopefully the exposure gained can encourage students to continue their studies at FPSM.
