FPSM UMT has shown a commitment to improve the standard of living of the local community through the implementation of economic activities aimed at empowering the rural population. Initiatives that impact the community are funded under the Environmental and Social Sustainability Grant (ESSG), under the UMT Center for Sustainable Management. As part of this effort, FPSM has organized a unique workshop on the production of smoked fish and sour water for the Hulu Terengganu community, together with the Kuala Nerus Elderly Association (PAWE) and Bachelor of Applied Science (Fishery Science) students with the aim of improving their skills and giving opportunity to generate additional income.
