The Talent Development and Innovation Center (PBBI) and the Faculty of Fisheries and Food Sciences (FPSM) have collaborated in organizing the Basic Shrimp Farming Course held at FPSM Hatchery on 19 June 2025.

The speakers involved were Associate Professor ChM. Ts. Dr Nor Azman bin Kasan, Deputy Director of AKUATROP and En.Ranzi bin Abdullah Dawawi, Senior Production Specialist, iSHARP Sdn.Berhad. Apart from En. Ranzi, there were two other iSHARP Sdn Bhd staff who also attended. All three of them are UMT alumni who have worked at the company for a long time.

This course aims to provide exposure to UMT G Fisheries Scheme staff and staff working at the FPSM and AKUATROP hatchery centers regarding the application of biofloc farming methods in aquaculture and also the basics of marine shrimp farming in ponds.

Apart from that, it is also hoped that through this course, the staff will be more prepared and confident to assist students and lecturers during practical classes, Final Year Projects (FYP) and lecturer research.

Thank you to AKUATROP and iSHARP Sdn. Bhd for their cooperation in making the Basic Shrimp Farming Course a success. Hopefully this course can be a platform to enable more joint activities between FPSM and the industry in the future.
